Medicare Heart Health Check Saved Posted in Impact by Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute on May 5th, 2023. The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute says that the Federal Government's decision to extend Medicare-funded Heart Health Checks will save lives. The Institute, as part of a vocal coalition campaigning to preserve these checks, emphasize that fatal heart attacks have been on the rise since COVID with 14,000 Australians losing their lives from ischemic heart disease in the first 10 months of 2022 alone. This was not the time to cut Heart Health Checks and the institute applaud the Minister for Health for extending these vital tests for two more years.
